JBIC's Project Categorization

JBIC puts projects into one of four categories, A, B, C, or FI, in accordance with the extent of the environmental impact(s) and/or JBIC's involvement in the project. Category A and B projects are expected to have significant impacts on the environment (for more detailed explanations, see JBIC page

Below is a list of all the projects that JBIC has classified as Category A or B since JBIC's new guidelines were established on October 1, 2002. (The full implementation of the guidelines started on October 1, 2003.)  This list is a translation of the list provided in Japanese on JBIC's official website.

Present Status of Project JBIC's environmental review is ongoing.
Project Outline and Sector Infrastructure Development Project in agricultural Community including the existing dirt road where the poor especially women understand and participate in the project.
Reasons for Category Classification (Based on “Illustrative list of Sensitive Sectors, Characteristics and Areas” of Guidelines) This is not the large road sector illustrated by Guideline and thus does not have significant adverse effect on environmen. It does not fall under the sensitive characteristics and sensitive region illustrate by guideline.
